TOMPALSKI’S 2019 TALK AT ART GALLERY OF VICTORIA
Artist Sherry Tompalski presented her Seagull series and Wrapped Women series at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV) on January 11, 2019.
Seagull Series featured in AGGV Talk.

The 2019 AGGV talk began with Tompalski’s Seagull Series, including a description of Seagull Sid’s Sing Along at Willows Beach in Oak Bay. Singers and Musicians included Terry Spencer, Mayor Nils Jensen, Arts Laureate Barbara Adams, Artists Sherry Tompalski, Gillian Redwood, Robert Amos, Christine Gollner, Arden Rose, Linda Darby and many more! As well, the Seagull series included painted images of Seagull Sid as a student of a local expensive prep school. Tompalski’s anthropomorphic character was developed as a response to Dr. Louise Blight’s assertion that the local gull population has suffered a 50% decline in the last 30 years. Saint Micheal’s University featured in AGGV Talk.
The 2019 AGGV talk included a description of Tompalski’s involvement in the St. Michaels University School’s Painted Piano project. Organized By Chris Bateman and Oak Bay Arts Lauriet Barbara Adams, the program created of two painted pianos for the 2018 Oak Bay Arts Alive program. The Wrapped Woman Series featured in AGGV Talk.

The 2019 AGGV talk included a description of Tompalski’s Graphic Novel “The Wrapped Woman And Her Hasty Marriage To A Gorilla” published by Blurb Books Of San Francisco. With funding by the Ontario Arts Council, Tompalski and Thompson set about developing the WRAPPED WOMAN character. See more information on the Wrapped Woman Catalogue Launch page.
